Also known as the Shah Hasan Ali’s Maqbara, which was built by Aga Khan after arriving in Mumbai from Iran. The Dargah was constructed for Aga Khan‘s family.

This is the same Aga Khan who has a palace in Pune where Gandhiji‘s ashes are kept.

The Architecture seen here is very peculiar. One surely gets a glimpse of the famous Mughal style of architecture which is very rare in Mumbai.

The mosque is made from the Rajasthani Marbles. The top of the mosque and the interiors are made from real gold. There are artificial decorative flowers made up of gold kept near the tombs.

The people who aren’t from the Shia community are not allowed to enter the property. There is a special Aga Khani sect who have the access to the mosque. The community is called as the Khoja community. They’re the Muslims from Iran.

Earlier, the mosque was open for all. to see the monument, the Government had made separate queues for the Non-Shias. Later, the community took a decision and stopped the Government intervention on their property. As per the people at the mosque, this was done due to the fear of the monument getting damaged by the commoners. So, the entry was prohibited for others.

But soon the place might be opened for all. The community has not yet decided on this matter yet, but there are great chances of the monument to be opened for the commoners.
